Jim Greiner's Bio: Short Version:

Jim Greiner is an award winning, internationally acclaimed percussionist, educator and community drumming leader based in the Monterey Bay Area of California. Jim has been playing hand drums and percussion instruments since 1970 in a wide range of contemporary and traditional musical styles and situations, including two years in Africa where he was deeply moved by the community-building, invigorating power of group drumming.

Jim has been teaching percussion and leading community drumming programs since 1980 and is recognized as "a master community drumming facilitator" (Percussive Arts Society) and as one "of the patriarchs of community drumming" (Drum! Magazine) and "One of America's leading percussion educators" (Latin Percussion Instruments).

Greiner leads interactive team-building, motivational drumming programs for corporations, conferences, communities, schools and private groups throughout the U.S. and internationally through his company, Hands-On! Drumming® (www.handsondrum.com).

Jim Greiner is an award winning, internationally acclaimed percussionist, educator and community drumming leader based in the Monterey Bay Area of California. He plays congas, bongos, djembe, timbales, cymbals and gongs, Shekere, Udu and all manner of hand percussion instruments in a wide range of styles including Latin, rock, R&B, funk, jazz and traditional and contemporary African and Caribbean styles.
Jim's current projects:
-Leads participatory group drumming programs and interactive keynote presentations for team-building, stress-releasing, motivating and celebrating for corporations, conferences, communities, schools, private events and therapeutic institutions throughout the U. S. and internationally through his company, Jim Greiner's Hands-On! Drumming¨ Events.
-Teaches Drum Circle Facilitation Skills workshops to train a wide range of people how to lead their own interactive drumming programs. -Writes and lectures about percussion education topics and about the physical, mental and emotional benefits of drumming for periodicals, conferences and therapeutic groups.
-Is the percussionist for The Bill Hopkins Rockin' Orchestra (www.hoprock.com) , a 10-piece dance and show band, that entertains at corporate events and resorts around the world. ("The best party band in the world!" -F. Duncan Reyes, Fairmont Hotels)
-Is the percussionist for acclaimed Soul/Gospel singer, Sista Monica Parker
-Is the percussionist and co-producer with The Dave Stein Band. Their 2004 CD, Tomorrow Still Has Me, has won numerous awards and fans worldwide through internet sales on music sites such as Apple iTunes, CD Baby and SteinÕs own site at www.davesteinmusic.com.
-Is an endorser/clinician for Latin Percussion Instruments, Sabian Cymbals & Gongs, Audix Microphones, Gibraltar Hardware, and ProMark Drumsticks and gives percussion clinics for them at music stores, schools and music camps throughout North America and beyond. Jim also gives product demonstrations for LP in their booth at the annual National Association of Music Merchants/ International Music Industry Expo trade show.
-Is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, an international organization that promotes percussion education, research, performance and appreciation Jim regularly gives percussion clinics and drum circles at their annual international conferences (PASIC) and is an active member of the PAS World Music and Recreational Drumming Committees
-Teaches percussion in workshops and residencies in schools, universities and community centers throughout North America.
-His award-winning video/DVD, Community Drumming For Health & Happiness, is available in music stores worldwide through LP Music & Warner. Bros. Publications
-Greiner has also won the Drum! Magazine, an international consumer and trade publication, Reader's Poll Awards for:
